hood vents

I'm currently in the middle of installing a set of vents in my hood. They are off of my 1985 Trans-Am and are completly open. Other than a screen under the louvers. My question is has anyone had any issues with sensors getting wet or being effected by moisture. I personaly have had to replace a couple TPS sensors because of this. My vent placement would actually expose the top of the throttle bodie, half of the dist. cap and spark plug wires. I have coated this TPS sensor with liquid electrical tape and coated wires, plugs, cap with dielectric grease. Any thing else I should do please comment.

Thanks -Aaronconfused

I can't say I've had any issues thus far with hood vents in any of my rigs. I've just coated all connectors in dielectric grease.

Just installed mine today. I placed them at the top and lined them up to these measurements.
(For both vents)
Top outside corner of vent, 5 1/2" form back of hood.
Top inside corner of vent, 5 1/2" from back of hood.
Lower inside corner of vent, 3" from out side of crease in hood, down the center of it ( not center line of hood).
I'll be posting pics after some final fit and finish.

Those look good.  I like the lebaron one's better, but these are a close second.

I have never seen those mounted.  Do you have any pics of them mounted on the hood?

OK, heres my trans am vents. I painted them hammertone black to match bumpers and rockers. Don't know if I like them. I may be shopping for new hood.

That is EXACTLY why I have not done hood vents on mine yet.  I know they help on the trail, and they look just fine, but what if I change my mind...  Oh, I am too nervous.

If you are going to get a new hood anyway, buy a cowl hood.  They aren't cheap, but then problem solved, right?  Oh, what do I know!?

Oh, by the way, I don't think yours look bad at all.  So, don't feel like you need to rush out and get that new hood!

If you like think that you might like the Lebaron vents better, just take those off and put the lebaron one one in their place.  I think that they would be bigger....  Just a thought.

Actually warming up to the vents. Most people didn't even see them till I pointed them out.
Plus noticed a temp change on freeway today. It ran just under 210, but only on freeway.
I also have noticed interior temp differance. ( after removing carpet and Hurculining it. Its quite hot.) So this has helped.

That is good to know.  I might take my interior out at sometime.
