Mine was doing this last winter, and it turned out to be alt. not putting out enough amps. Mine would actually stall unless I kept my foot on the gas though. It acted as if it wasn't fuel injected.
Another thing that it might be a dirty throttle body.

I miss the days that they made toys that could kill a kid.
Yes take it to one of those places and have them run a LOAD test on it. That will tell you if it's either the alt. or the battery.
If your starter turns, it's not the starter. It's doing this due to the fact you don't have enough "power". Your battery may be just fine, it may be your alt. Or your alt may just be fine but it's your battery. Only way to tell without having to replace one or the other and guess is to have a load test ran on the alt to see if it's good.
check that out. eric knows what he's talking about. i wish i had read it before getting my red top, cuz i would have gone with a blue top and upgraded wiring as well. but oh well..hope that helps
I tried to look at the site he mentioned about Jon Kelley but it was built horrendously and I couldn't navigate it for my life. I looked at the product list and had no idea what it was talking about.
If I order from that guy I'd have to email him and tell him what I wanted.
But as for the site you linked it's something that everyone considering an Optima should read.
