There has been this topic that was recently started by Adam on getting better MPGs. I have been following the topic with a lot of enthusiasm hoping to come across some gadget that can boost the xj mpg.
The other day I was discussing the issue of the ever increasing gas prices with a friend of mine from Mexico who mentioned the availability of gas economizers. Its alleged that with the magnetic gas economizer installed you can get as much as 25% saving on gas.... Here is Fuel OptiMiser that claims that you save 24%!( http://www.fuel-optimiser.co.uk/how.html )
Question is; has anyone here ever used a magnetic gas economizer on the xj or any other vehicle. Do these things work or are they useless gadgets with fancy names that add zero value to automotive fuel economy.
I've never used one on any vehicle, but my gut feeling says no.
I imagine it's along the same line as the Tornado. Sure, it swirls the air right at the airbox, just so it can go back to what it was doing in all those other bends.... :)

I have one on my Jeep I paid $20 for. $10 it's at your door. I noticed no difference, but some stuff (even performance parts) varies by the individual vehicle, fuel used, etc.

I have read a lot of positive things about the Fitch setup. Many Jeep mags have done thier own reviews on them and say that they have seen good results from them. When I have an extra $200 to blow on one I'll probally pick one up for Rebecca's daily driver. Or if gas goes back upto the mid $4 range again...
The fitch set up work great. I installed one on my F-250 a while back. After seeing one installed on a truck on TRUCKS one Saturday morning. First thing I noticed was a smother idle (less noise). Pretty good for a deisel. Didn't get what they claim for increase in miliage, but I may hard to gauge in a work hores.

Diesel Power ran an article http://www.dieselpowermag.com/tech/dodge/0711dp_fitch_fuel_catalyst/index.html on the Fitch and they had good results. I think the fitch unit uses a ceramic catalyst in it. What I have on my XJ is a zip-tie to the fuel line close to the injectors magnetic unit.[url=http://www.dieselpowermag.com/tech/dodge/0711dp_fitch_fuel_catalyst/index.html]
