Where's second gear?

Completely randomly decided I wanted to test the gears. Instead of putting it in overdrive I put it in 1-2... well it never shifted into two just got it's revs really high. Has no problem in OD, what's going on?

The AW4 is a 4 speed tranny. You have 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and than OD.

However the AW4 only has 3 cylinoids (sp?) to control those 4 gears. It is uniquie in the fact that 1st and 2nd is controled by cylinoid #1. #2 controls 2nd, and #3 controls OD and Rev. functions.

So you won't feel it shift from 1st to 2nd at all, as it is essentially all the same gear (think of it as 1 long gear).

Well it just seems that it should be going faster if in fact it is going the full length of the gear... I'll get MPH readout around 3k RPM and post and you can tell me what you think..

I've noticed this as well. Kinda wish they would've made it a '2' (as in second gear and second only, like old ford pickups and some honda civic automatics) to aid in low traction starts.
