RE: Air Cleaner's

i bought a $35 intake kit off of ebay with cone filter and all fittings... works great, and it was super cheap. it sounds good, and i noticed a hair of a difference in mpg and performance (mainly in 5th gear on the hwy)

anyways, i just left the bottom half of the stock airbox in for a kind of splash guard/ heat shield, and havent had any problems with it, other than 2 years later my filter needs to be replaced..

i'll take pics for you in the AM

here's what i got... keep in mind, i didnt take the time to cut any hoses, or install the mounting brackets it came with so it is what it is.. lol

like i said, it was like 35 bucks on ebay, 40 shipped i believe, and it'll do pretty much the same exact job the two hundred and whatever dollar k&n would do... good buy IMO

the bottom half of the airbox works pretty decent for splash guard too.. the underside of my hood is plastered with muddy crap, and the filter stays pretty darn clean....

another thing to consider after putting your intake system together. is to think about a better flow exhaust(if you don't already have one) otherwise fuel economy really isn't going to be at its best unless you combine the 2 the air intake and exhaust...just a thought to throw out there...The better flow you have going in the engine and out of the engine will produce better fuel economy and HP!!!!!!!

Remember this......An engine is a big air compressor. Increased air flow into and out of your motor will increase both milage and horsepower.

Hooker Areo Chamber. I love it. I had a flowmaster on it for about two years. Wanted something a little quieter. Guess I am getting older.

The hooker muffler is alot quieter, its still fully welded like the flowmaster though.
For sound control it uses stainless batting so it wont "bolw out" like glass ones.
Seat of the pants feel is more in the low range where my flowmaster seemed to pull in the top end.
If I were to compair it to another as far as sound. I'd say the Dynomax race magnum or Borla.

I was giving the DynoMAx a good look, But i dont even know which muffler to get, Or what size do i want. I need to ask the guy @ the Muffler shop to see what he think's. They are running a deal right now on cat back install's.
