6" suspension lift with a 2" econo lift together

I have been asking around about a 6" lift with a 2 inch econo lift to achieve the 8" lift i want without spending un godly amount of money , is this achieveable or will it not work in real life!!!!

Why do you want 8" of lift? You only need that much lift if your wanting to run 40's. 40's will explode your stock axle's anyways...

What size tires are you wanting to be able to run?

At anything more than 6" you really need longarms, at 8" it's not an option; you need them. Also dont' forget that anything really above 5" should have a SYE and a new CV driveshaft. Than you need to factor in several other things; stock steering won't work at that height, new shocks, longer brake lines, control arms (both upper and lower), trackbar, etc. etc.. It's not "cheap" to go big and quite frankly I think 8" is a bit rediculious!

8" is way to high in my opinion to keep your rig stable if you want to drive it on the road, not to mention any offroading. I know it may look "cool" to be big, but the fact is that it's just not pratical. I can go anywhere in my XJ at 5" and 35's that anyone "bigger" than me can go. Not to mention my rig feels VERY VERY stable on the street as well as offroad. And no, I've not trimmed more than 1" of metal to fit the 35's at that height.

Rebecca run's 33's on 3.5" of lift with VERY minimal trimming in the front only. Her rig is VERY cabable offroad, and VERY stable on the road as well.


Please let me know why you think you need 8" of lift!?!

I am buying(XJ) salavage title, a strictly trail rig and puting a exo- cage, axles, 383 stroker, I was wanting to figure if this could be done but I am just going to build it myself, buy all tubing and weld my own long arm kit save myself big chunk of money, The reason why wanted to go 8 inches because i thought it would be fun to build something that big

It might be fun to build, but unless you track so wide you won't fit on the trail, you'll be spending more time on your side than on your wheels.

If it were me, I'd build a 6" long arm, full size axles, and 36s. It would be BIG & stable.

I have been throwing this around now for about a year do i want to go big and high or squatty with a huge articulation , i have been reading all these articles on 8" this and big lift , big lift but I didnt know what i should do I want to do this one time thats why i asked because I want to do this and make it functional and fun, not put a bunch of time into something that wont work thanks for the ideas and the tech side gives me good platform on where to start!

I know that other people on here may feel differently, but I would HIGHLY caution you against making your own suspension parts for this drastic of a lift. I am not saying that you are not capable so please do not take it that way. I am honestly just concerned about the safety of it. There are reasons that we pay other people to make things for us. They test them and have them safety proven. Unfortunately, as we know, even some of the big name companies that "do this all the time" still flub up and make things that can't hold up on the trail/road (I won't mention any names). So, just consider that when doing this.

It is your time/money/etc... You will do what you want to do. And trust me, we all love to see a well-built, sick machine. But, please... keep the safety of yourself and those wheeling with you in mind.

(stepping off of my "anally safety-minded" soapbox)

Oh, and my personal opinion is that you will need to go with full-width axles too. Just my twocents.gif !

i have 2 guys that want to help me in stages, I am not going to sacrifice the saftey of not only myself and especially those i am wheeling with to get hurt, I want to do this correctly and I have 2 guys from fort wayne who will walk me through everything, I am a certified welder (1/2 inch), DOT required tubing, and i will follow all guidelines when laying this all out, I appriciate and respect your opinions, from everyone in this club talking to fellow jeepers opens up new ideas, and views, The guys who are helping me learn this part of it are guys who have built, WE ROCK buggies, they have explained that to do this sort of a project requires alot of things , but one that it doesnt is instant gratification( will take pics and keep everyone posted on the progress) i called around today and i am staying under 6" long arm because 3 people who have gone above 6" trashed their rigs 3 out of 3 not good
