my bumper design - tell me what you think

okay, so heres what ive been thinking. i like the slikrok, but i want something a little different then people have.

so talking with AJ, here's kinda what i sketched up.

he first sent me a picture of this bumper he made for a customer
I like the little details in the center of the bumper and the guards on the corners as well (could come in helpful on the tight trails here)

and i liked the slikrok

im not a huge fan of tube bumpers, so i mixed the two and came up with this.
(keep in mind im not an artist...lol)

tell me what you guys think!

Your sketch looks like a UFO.... hahaha JK  smile

I think that first bumper is sweet looking.  How much does a bumper like that one run?

I think that you sketch looks good.  It looks like it has you have the winch insert???   Also do you want the front of the bumper flat, or are you going for it to be at an angle like the front skid plate?  I think that the angled looks so much better.

Your sketch looks like you want the second bumper with some of the circle decorative things (for lack of a better description) in the corners from the first one.  I think that would be sweet looking when all said and done as long as the front is angled toward the ground and not just flat.

I like the slickrock, for the details/cosmetic stuff, it reminds me of frame reinforcements on vintage BMX bikes.  (top right of frame, just above the forks)

andy - i would want it angled in like the slikrok, the only difference would be the prerunner bar. i would want it a little taller then the one in the picture and more "square" at the top then in the one AJ made.

as for the price - ill try to find out for you.

I'm with Andy that first bumper is killer. What is the price on something like that? Your idea of morphing the two (tube & fab) would look great, as well as unique.

What ever happened to "Truck Farm" or are they Proto-Fab now?
Peretson's had a project XJ they used the Truck Farm one on and I loved that design.
Thats the same project that geared me toward my rear C-Rok bumper.

I think your thinking of "Farm Boy Fab"...

They've been long gone, and no it's not the same company as  Proto-Fab.

ill find out the price of that bumper up there. i like it, im just not a fan of the tube bumper "bottoms" it just doesnt look complete to me. which is kinda why i drew up that other picture (or UFO as andy called it). but tell AJ hes got some intrest in it and see what he says.

but i think i might split the cost of the bumper with my parents for a christmas present...lol

i talked with AJ, and he said a tube bumper like the one above (with a more simplified winch mount) would be anywhere from $550 to $600. not too bad

Which one above will be in the $550-$600 range?

And, just because I am curious... What about tube bumpers do you like?

im not sure what i like about tube bumpers, i just like the prerunner on the front. gives it a more aggressive look (i used to have a brush guard that i liked - no functionality though). its just something a little different i guess. i just want something no one else has out

I don't care for tube bumpers normally but that one looks sweet.  I would put that on my XJ anyday.
