I finally found the spare time to install the HP axle. We did it the "easy" way. We used the fork truck at work to lift up the Jeep onto the jack stands, and lower the LP axle out, and lift the HP axle up into the Jeep.
It took about 2 hours to do, and other than the toe being out slightly drives/runs great. I adjusted the toe some, but I think I'll end up taking it to get checked out at an alignment shop. It drove funny right after I backed it out, and found the problem when I got home. The axle end of the track bar was loose. DOH!!!
I found it wasn't the toe causing the problem. I have had to retighten the axle end of the trackbar 3 times. It was not getting fully tightened down. I can't explain why as it appeared to be tight the first 2 times I tightened it.
Other than a very very slight vib at 60 mph in 4wd, it drives just fine. It dosen't vibrate any in 2wd so I will leave it alone. I can't get the pinion to point directly at the TC output shaft since I need the added caster angle to keep the Jeep from wanting to wander on the road, and I don't plan on driving around in 4wd at 60 mph much, so it's all good!
People driving that fast in 4wd usually end up calling me to come get them out of the ditch because their 4wd didn't 4 wheel stop them from sliding off the road... .
