it's time to end my xj era.. schools coming up and i need a gas sipper for the 45 minute commute every day, so i have to sell her... it's a green '93 2.5l 5spd with 280k on the clock. it runs great and will definitely make the trip home if you live farther away and wish to drive it. i've taken pretty good care of it, and havent had any major problems since i took care of all the odds and ends after i got it... new parts i've put on within the last 3 years (less than 30k miles) are: clutch, fuel pump, transmission mount, quadratec HD leafs, rear shocks, new brakes, rear axle bearings and seals, t-case tranny and diff fluid changes, starter, water pump, radiator, CPS, front hubs, tires are about 50% yet uniroyal liberators, front u joints, ECM, battery is less than a year old. transmission shifts great, no grinds or clutch slip..
the bad, it needs a driveshaft. the current one is driveable, but it vibrates like an out of balance tire.. i can pick one up and put it in for you if the right price is offered. it is also pretty rusty on the floorboards and rocker panels (there's a hole in the driver side floorboard).. otherwise everything works great, heat is hot, a/c needs a recharge, but hey.. it's a 4 door, i just open all the windows.. lol
i also have a 1,700 watt sound system (2 alpine type-r 12" subs with kenwood 1,700 watt mono amp, and a qlogic ported enclosure ) which can also be included for the right offer...
any questions or if you'd like pics, pm me or post up, and i'll get back to you.
i'm asking $1,500 b/o

i figure i'll add that the engine was either rebuilt or replaced (guy i got it from never gets his story straight.. he's kind of old, and out of it.. lol) at about 235,000, so the engine runs like a champ.. brand new cat on it as well i forgot to add that.. i'm very willing to work with anyone on the price, and just want to get rid of it.. i need my prelude! lol

Can you post any more pics of your truck. I will be looking around this price range when the check gets here. Also where are you located at? Thank you.
lol i'm actually looking at 5th gen preludes.. really the only honda i like, plus it's reasonably quick, so i can have a little fun if i want to.. either way it doesnt look like she's going to sell any time soon, and i really dont want to, but a part outt and junking may soon be in order worst case scenario..

NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!1
store it at your grandparent's house or something. For a dd I'd suggest anything with a n/a 3800 under the hood. They last forever, insurance isn't bad, and if it's a buick chances are it was taken care of by some old guy. They don't cost a lot, either. It's your call, but I'm happy with my bike for 'fun on the road' and my XJ for 'fun off the road'.
In terms of making insurance more affordable, I have the XJ on storage, and to take it out some companies will let you take it out a couple times a month without charging you extra.

20mpg city and 25+ highway is pretty darn good I think. Might be cheaper than the honda price premium for a while (seems Hondas always go for a grand over what a comparable other car is worth). MPG is pretty similar for sportier Grand Prixs and granny special Buick Lesabre.
I think you'll ride the bike in the summer most of the time, so assuming 30% of your annual miles is on the bike (I got about 55mpg cruisin state roads) and 60% with the 3800 powered car (let's say 22mpg average), your 'annual mpg' would be... 55+22+22/3=33.00mpg
not bad. If I did this with my jeep and bike (screw the econobeater II, I hate that car), it'd look like
55+19.8+19.8/3=31.53 mpg for the year.
the four wheeler vehicle being used 60 % of the time (double of 30) is why it's added in twice to the motorcycle's once added into the equation. Of course, to find the average divide by the number of numbers in consideration (3) and you get average mpg. Of course it's just an estimate.

edit: some of the older 3800 cars had a 3 speed automatic. stay away from these if you want good mileage... they made less power too than the 'series ii or series iii" engines. Also looked into 3100 and 3400v6 (different engine family from the 3800s) and there's not much difference in mpg. Just less power in a smaller car. In my pre-Jeep days I had a 00 Grand Am with a 3400 and I got 24 average, and high of 32mpg driving 60mph.

I have a 05 Grand Prix GTP with a programmer and supercharger underdrive pulley and that car gets awesome fuel mileage for a engine that pushing 300 hp. All intown driving averages low 20 mpg's and highway is 31-32 mpgs.

I wonder what Hunts thinks about selling or keeping the Jeep... or cars. Sure, Honda has their aftermarket following and stuff, but I'm not too impressed with them... kinda like a red camaro with a 350v8. Every car show is guranteed to have one, if not more.
