Hood vents or a scoop for our XJ's?

I know a lot of you guy are running hood vents from Lebaron's, T/A's etc. I saw that pic on ebay with the modified xj krawler and if you noticed, it had a small cowl induction scoop placed in the passenger side front part of hood where cooling fan is located. I was just wondering what your  thoughts are  on that. I figure that less mud/splashing would get down on top of engine bay yet still let heat escape. I don't know. I am used to big old chevy trucks with big radiators-temp was never an issue for me untill I bought a cherokee to play with. Anyway, what do you all think would be the best way to go?

As far as cooling goes they do a good job, I guess. I never had an issue with it and still dont. I can say they let out alot of heat , you can see it and feel it if you put your hand over them.
I probably would not have installed them if they were not free. I do plan on replacing them with lebarron ones. They fit better and look more finished than the T/A ones. I dont know of the one your refering to.

I run vents on all my Jeeps (well besides the wife's as she won't let me cut holes in her hood) and love them!

I think that it would help for sure.  But when it helps most would be driving down the streat, not on the trails.  I think that it would help, but just not the BEST option for our aplication.  They look good though.



That XJ is neat looking.  Don't know that I would want it, but still neat.  I haven't seen on like that.

I considered putting in a '80s dodge daytona hood louver, but decided against it since I like the looks of the lebaron louvers better.
