Well I think mine is finally getting tired - oil pressure getting ill, lifters are rattling at first on startup, and seems pretty doggy with 4.56 gears at times. I have been debating a rebuild vs buying different / new motor. Any good places that sell reman or new motors for an affordable price? I am assuming mainly stock - don't need a custom built motor, or anything. Been debaing about getting another stock one for replacement and then building / stroking my current one. I assume for simplicity (mine being a 92HO), that 92-95 would be a direct swap to swap? If you're going to rebuild the one in your XJ as a stroker, get a lower mile used 4.0. They're all over the place on larger offroad forums in the for sale, and occasionally here. Junkyards will sell them as well... around $200 at the pick-a-part near me. You could resell it for the same amount in the bargain corner/online after installing the stroker.
