Jeep "quick disconnect' tranny line

Putting in a new radiator today... maybe efan as well if I can find that relay kit I purchased a year ago...

What is supposed to be a quick disconnect line is taking, oh, a lot longer than the regular fitting for the tranny line/radiator..evileye

I am not happy... anyone have any ideas how to get it disconnected without getting out the sawzall?furious

Grab both sides with a pair of pliers, push the fitting in while your squeeze with the plyers while pulling the line out. It'll come right out.

or you can actually buy the $7 set of wrenches that slide in the fitting, because I did what Adam had just said , and those stupid plastic clips get old and brittle, and then you have to go buy them at auto parts store, hope this helps, good luck

those stupid things are JAMMED (I tried the special anondized fuel line tool).furious Being a lower pressure lines, I'll splice in a section of fuel line.  Ghetto- yes.evileye Will it work?  Hopefully, yes.smile

Got new hoses, radiator, and tstat/housing installed, just to have leaks- lower radiator hose (water pump I suspect, pulley has lateral play), and tstat housing gasket.

Anyone know a relatively quick, effective way to clean gaskets?  I'm off to the paint store for a scraper tomorrow...  screwdrivers don't lift the thin crusted on stuff very well. Then again, I'm not one to go at it very aggressively, as I would rather not gouge any gasket sealing surfaces!

I usually use a razor blade and a wire brush...  I am sure that ther are a million different ways to do it though.

I use 3M scuffing pads powerd by an air/angle grinder when I can, also a shop vac to suck out what you can and some brake parts cleaner just to be safe from plugging in the future. I will not use a wire brush except tp clan up welds. I have seen first hand(my 454cu in in my Burban) what wire brisstles can do when left inside a motor evileye

tranny line hose and double clamping worked... if they have issues later I'll replace with proper line... for right now they work fine. I had to undo the line that goes under the engine as it put that line right next to the belt (!) and I didn't want any contact there... resecured about an inch and a half away from belt.
