Sadly to say its always the idiots in the 4wd that think they can do 60 in 8 inches of snow and not end up causing an accident or go flying into the ditch. Darwin works in the auto world as well.
I have said it a million times. 4WD is not 4 wheel STOP. You still get the same reaction when you have to slam on the breaks, no matter how many wheels are getting power.

Dittos!!
another ditto.
I'm going with the hack n tap. Stupid impact wrench is too weak to do a tcase drop, and being my DD, I have to have it back on the road before work the next day.
So... here goes nuthin'... when rebuild time comes on the engine (stroker!) I'll pull the tcase and swap in 231HD (chevy blazer ZR2) components, a 'real' sye (they look a lot more solid) and about the 231HD: they have supposedly stronger gears, chain, and other parts I've seen online looking it up.
To ensure I get the exact center of the hole, I'll measure the output shaft at the widest points and end up marking 'crosshairs' on it with a sharpie, and the center should, theoretically, be where the lines meet.

You can also find a HD 231 from a Dodge 3/4 ton. You will have to swap the the front case as the Dodge has a different transmission pattern then the Jeep. From what I hear it works pretty slick. The only downfall is that finding one is pricey and I hear the ratio is lower with the diesel because the Cummins has more low end grunt. In my opinion the NP 242 is a waste of time and money for the little it gives you back. After market parts are hard to find and when you do they are expensive.
