For starters you will need a TC and front axle. I know that there might still be a TC in the for sale section of the site.

a friend of mine did this last year and what he did was he bought a donor XJ for like $400 from ebay and had pretty much everything he needed including a great running 4.0, 5spd trans. He didn't really have to by anything extra that I recall except minor things like hoses, lines, clamps-just things that should be replaced with new since its all apart anyway-wasn't to hard to figure out-it was done in the back part of his driveway so...

For any futher Comanche related subjects check this site out, http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/index.php if haven't already.

But as far as the conversion it can be done however, you have an H.O. in the 91 and a renix 4.0 in the 89, so the engines are different. If you can just swap the whole drivtrain from the 91 to your MJ, being that you need the harness as well as the trans cpu to go with that auto. then swap the front axle, your driveshaft will need to be cut down but this way it can be to your desired length.

Here's a conversion done by $500MJ did the same thing...
