Dana 35 Tank Tough

Thoughts on this product?

I feel for 180 bucks you are better off upgrading your axle, but if you already have a beefed up 35 this Trip Saver could be a good option.

Seems to be an effective upgrade. I read about it in this months petersons offroad.

Yea thats where I saw the product too. You apparently remove your brake assembly after a shaft breaks and replace it with this product and a front hub.

WHY?

For $180 you can buy a chromo replacement shaft that probably won't ever break. Why anyone would buy a $180 product for their D35 is beyond me. If you break your D35 it should be replaced with a stronger axle, not with a $180 part to get you home, than another $180 to buy an upgraded shaft.

I just can't see why someone would spend $180 on that INSTEAD of buying a spare shaft to carry with them....

EDIT: It's $180 PLUS a new unit bearing (aprox. $100). So your looking at almost $300!!! OUCH!!!!

Also looking at this photo and the quality of the welds I wouldn't give $18 for it, let alone $180...
