blower motor?

never had a blower motor go out before, so i'm not sure what the symptoms are, but when i have my xj running, and turn the heat on, you can hear the engine bog down a bit, and then nothing, for a couple seconds, then the fuse blows.. tried it with a 5A higher fuse and same thing, but it just takes longer for the fuse to blow...sound like what i'm dealing with? also, any tips or tricks on replacing it if that's the problem?

WoW, if you're pulling enough amps with a blower motor to drag the engine down, I would NOT be turning it on. I'm suprised you haven't melted the wiring yet!

From my expreiences with a bad blower motor, it has been the bearings/bushings going out and it will squeal, or make a scraping noise. Your's sounds like it is locked up. Does it blow air at all?

I've never replaced one on an XJ, and never paid THAT much attention but isn't it accessable from under the hood?

well i think it might have just seized because i havent used the xj in quite a while.. never had any weird sounds or anything from it, so i dont know... haha but yeah, it doesnt drag the engine down a lot.. just a drain like turning on the headlights type deal, but instead of it recovering it keeps the drain on til the fuse blows.

my blower motor just got slower and slower, and burnt up the fan speed resistor. So with a JY fan that spins freely, I have "Hi" and off. No low, medium, or more medium.

I had to put in a new blower motor resistor a while back

As far as like my lights dimming when the fan kick's on, i hooked up a air conditioning machine to it, i was like almost 2 #'s low, so i filled it, that helped out alot.

If @ all even relavent.
