I'm not at all saying that a 10.5" tire is "unsafe"; it has everything to do with how it's used.
Rim offset has a TON to go with how stable the Jeep will feel. We used to run 31x10.5 tires on our Jeeps and the offset of the rim makes all the difference.
I'll show you 3 separate pics of a 31x10.5 tire on the wife's Jeeps; each having a different offset.
Obviously the first 2 pics have a much different offset than the last pic (stock rims). The difference is night and day between making the stance (track) wider. She now runs a 33x12.5" on a 4" BS rim and it's feels more stable then it ever has.
Around where I live the commies like to give out $65 fines for having wide tires that stick out. This was originaly passed to nail the street racers but now they are writing up anyone. I would love to go wider and maybe more like the first pic but unless I spend 300 bucks on a set of bushwackers (which I will not do) I am stuck using my stock flares and my 4.5 BS on 15x8 rims.

Local law enforcement seems to only target the people breaking the law around here. The criminals take up all their time.LOL Gotta love Detroit. I've had a few officers follow closely, probably checking for warrents while running plates, but thats about it. Funny how some places tollarate vehicle mods and some not so much. Wish someone other than tsl made 15" muds in a 34" flavor. I like the offset of the second pic best.
