As most of you know i have a 3" BDS lift on my XJ,it consisted of 3" coils and a 2.5" full length AAL and a 5/8" steel block. Unlike some lift companies when they say 3" they mean it, I'm 3" exactly front and 3.5" in the rear. My 31" trxus are a bit on the big side so i want to get a bit more room, i do not want to trim as i like my flares. No vibes with my T-case drop. What im thinking of  doing is adding a 1" spacer to the front coils and 1" shackle to the rear. I'm a bit worried about getting vibes,a SYE is planned , but not just yet. Any ideas how many degrees of pionion angle i will get wiht a shackle? I suppose i could always remove the block if i get vibes . Thanks any info is helpful.

The 2000 and 2001 are a hard one to speculate on. Do you have the 231 or the 242 TC? I know some get vibes with a budget boost, and than you have those with 4-5" of lift with only a TC drop and don't get any vibes at all.

It's really going to be a trial and error thing. A spacer and a shackle is an easy swap in/out. So if you do get vibes you can always remove them and go back to what you where.

I dunno, it's a hard call. I don't think you'll know the answer untill you actually try it.

You could try to jack the body of the Jeep up 1" front and rear since that's where it's going to sit. Use an angle gauge to calculate what the corrected angles should be. That would give you a starting point.


Like Adam said, there is probably no magic shim that will work. We have the same Jeep, but I bet they would require different settings in the same situation.


If you don't get any vibes now, maybe the shackle lift will be enough to correct any angle problems you might get. Then again, you might grenade your Tcase on the first test drive.

I have the 231 t-case. I do have a 1" steel block available as well, I could always add it and remove the 5/8" give me 1/2" more in rear(give or take), add my 3/4" spacer to front, and yes bumpstop it corectly. Thought i might try to elimanate the blocks all together.

I'm willing to bet a 2 degree shim might do the trick.....


I would'nt goof around buying stuff your most likely going to out grow..........get a set of ACO's for the front & 2 position shackles for the rear.........ACO's you'll use forever, I switched about 1.5 years ago & never looked back, the 2 position shackles will let you adjust as required now and in the future......stinks buying parts over & over, your current suspension will eventually fade or you'll go bigger.....adjustable parts can cost alittle more at purchase time but as I suggested they be around alot longer because you can tweak...

Good advice Mark I already have the spacer and a 1" block plus bumpstop extensions, Inchitis is always a problem eventually want to go long arms.

Even with LA's....you can re-use those ACO's.....and 2 position shackles.....invest, dont just get by.

Not really just getting by, i already have the spacer and block will install it now and when i get to the other things(long arms) will check them then.
