Looks good Randy. What angle is that? 2x1 and 1/4" thick? I like you you went thru the rail instead of under.  I am looking at building one too and I liek the idea of those 1/4 panel guards. Now I just gotta find me some steel.

it's actually 2x3x1/4"

That's wicked nice Randy.
Did you tie the sliders attached to the bumper into the side of the frame rails? I'm not sure what an XJ has back there. I'd be worried about the twisting forces on your mounts if you drop the back end onto a rockand it levers against the bumper.

I'm planning on doing the same thing with my MJ, since my bed hangs out so far, but I've go frame rails to attach to by the wheel.

planning on tying the wings into the front of the shackle hangers, but haven't had time for that.  I'm not too worried about hitting them anyways.
