XJ Oil Pressure Guage?

Specs: 89 XJ 4.0L Automatic 4x4 w/93 HO 4.0L motor wired into renix electronics system

I have an odd question regarding the wiring(?) for the oil pressure guage.
From shortly after I purchased my Jeep with the original motor the oil pressure guage worked intermittently. After a few months if just went all the way to the right and lays there motionless. I swapped motors and it never read oil pressure, but I didn't mind. But, occaisionally, after 4-wheeling it will start working again.

After the last trip I took to Haspin, it worked from when I left there until the other day.
Now it's back just sitting at the max side.
Does anyone know what would cause it to start/stop working like this?
Does anyone know where it's plugged into the motor at?
It appeared to read "fine" (what I would expect it to - between 20-60 IIRC) when it was working for those couple weeks.

The pickup/sensor is located directly beside the oil filter itself. Thier are 2 (maybe 3) wires that go to it. This is not uncommon, as usually when changing your oil you bump it etc.

1) Check to make sure the wires are hooked up correctly.
2) Check to make sure that the sensor itself is all the way in.
3) Replace sensor.

It's usually at the sensor side, NOT the dash side of it. Good luck!
