Just some recent progress pics (tie ins and door bars)

I have always meant to tie my cage/rockers into the framerails of my XJ, but kept putting it off because I was lazy. After my trip to Moab and Colorado I noticed that I had hit my rockers hard enough to buckle my floor a little. So I have started working on tying the rockers and cage into the framerail.

I started out by making some wedges

The wedges will sit up against the bottom of the floor between the rocker and the framerail (which is plated with 3/16" steel).

I will have 3 of these on each side. The front and rear ones will bolt thru the floor and thru the plates welded to the floor that my cage is welded to

The middle one on each side will just be welded to the rocker and framerail

Once all the wedges are welded in place, they will be covered with 3/16" plate so the bottom is smooth and the wedges will not get caught on rocks, etc....

More pics as I progress

I have landed on my tube doors too many times, causing the hinges to get messed up, preventing the doors from closing easily and properly......so it is time for them to go.

In place of them I am adding door bars to my cage. I started on the driver's side today. Here's a few pics.

i added 2 bends to kick the bar out as far as possible for maximum room

Before

After

I always hit my roller fairlead, so I wanted something smaller (besides, I had hit the roller one so much, that it didn;t roll anymore anyways).

Once I build my new front bumper later this summer, it will offer even better approach angle :D

Is there a reason you went threw your seat belts? Won't you have to cut them to get them out at sompoint??

just looked better to me.  i may have to cut them out.....but the only reason I have to remove them would be because i installed different seats with a 5 point harness.....so it's not a concern for me :)

Looks good Randy. Just 1 question though, why did you tie the door bars into the bottom spreader bar and not the a-pillar bar?
