Catback systems Which one?
(Preview)
I have searched and read most of the threads about exhaust systems on other forums, and come away confused. I want a system that DOES NOT sound stock, but I am 49+ and my boy racer days are long gone. But I also DON'T want to wake up the neighborhood everytime I drive away either. I've read "get the Dynomax"...

New Recall
(Preview)
Only covers selected 1996 XJ's with the 4.0. They reprogram the emissions something or other with the computer. Then once they determine that the catylitic converter is bad (because all 96 XJs are over ten years old -ya think- and the catylitic converter is probably bad just due to age), but due to the...

Possible next purchase
(Preview)
I sold my stock tires and wheels today. I've been looking at Tomken's XJ rear bumper, endcaps, and tire carrier. I have no experience with Tomken. Anyone here have any of their parts? The bumper looks to be what I need, I like the looks of it, and the price seems to be reasonable too.
Someone ST...

Front diff breather hose ?
(Preview)
Going to be installing a set of uca's tomorrow, or Tuesday. Might be a stupid question but, what did you do with the breather hose? Did you just zip tie it back to the new control arm? I never have looked, but where the heck does it go? Is it just up against the firewall? Could I just pull the some not all the sl...

Picked up some minor vib's after mounting up the LCA's, so I am getting a set of UCA's to fix the pinion angle problem.
The lowers were a snap to install, is there anything I should know about the uppers? Any problems with them I should look out for? They lo...

Rockcrusher differential covers
(Preview)
My latest modification. The diff guard was always acting like a scoop. It was full of mud/dirt, and sticks/crap. I decided to go in a different direction. I found the Rockcrusher covers are a whole lot cheaper than last year. I just wish they made them for the Chrysle...

Front end noise figured out... finally
(Preview)
I've had a knocking noise in the front end for awhile now. Not all the time, just ever so often. Lately it has become more frequent. I have checked the steering parts a million times, and was never able to locate where it was coming from... until today. It is coming from the front shocks. If I bang my hand on...

Coils spring spacers
(Preview)
Just a heads up from experience. I had installed a set of 1 1/4" coils spacers, and sandwiched it between two isolators. Didn't work out too well.
I don't know if when it happened, it might have been when the tierod end on my trackbar was bent, or what. The spacer was smashed/mushroomed, and move...

Radial and Bias Tire Construction Differences
(Preview)
Tires, if you have an automobile you have to have tires. Little thought is given to their construction by the average driver as the tread pattern or the size is more of a concern. There are two basic types of tire construction, Radial and Bias-Ply tires. Tires are not just ballons t...

Adjustable LCA's
(Preview)
Well I raised the front end up to level the Jeep out. I am now sitting at 4". I have adjusted the stock LCA's all the way forward to help with apparent castor problems. That worked great until I went up another 1 1/4", now it feels like it wants to wander some again. Castor problem I assume, the axle is only ou...

Hi-Lift stowage solution

Another busy weekend.
I have searched high and low to find a solution to storing my Hi-Lift inside the XJ.
I saw some people tie them to the factory rivited loops. let's hope they never get in a accident.
I wanted a way to not show it off in a parking lot, Secure it in case of the unexpected,...

Revolvers or Boomerangs....
(Preview)
What would you personally go with? I like the extra articulation that the revolvers give you, but you "still" hear bad stuff about them. However I've never heard bad things from anyone who actually run them. With the amount of new lift I'm going with, I think the extra drop in the rear is worth the extra p...

Engine Temperature Question
(Preview)
Ok, so a couple weeks ago I noticed coolant leaking a pretty good rate (actually, I didn't know it was coolant at the time). One of the biggest things I've learned about vehicles is to not let them overheat (my mom did once).
So I watched my temperature gage after I noticed the coolant and when I was st...

Bias vs. Radial
(Preview)
So I have a line on a set of bias tires, but am afraid of them on the street. Does/have anyone ran a bias tire on the street, or is that a big NO-NO?
I'm having a hard time finding an agressive radial tire I'm happy with (tread pattern, plus cost), it seems all the really agressive ones are all bias.
A...

Renix "Emissions Maintenance" light?
(Preview)
The other day my "emissions maintenance" light came on in my 89 XJ.
I am not sure, but I believe the Jeep is using more fuel than on average, but I can't really tell for sure as it doesn't get more than 10mpg average anyways.
The renix system seems to be a PITA to diagnose, as it's before OBD I believe....
